FAQs...

What is it?
The LimeStop is a limescale inhibitor which actually works - and are guaranteed to do so!

What's inside?
Silicate-polyphosphate (Siliphos) spheres.

How does it stop limescale?
Siliphos (silicate-polyphosphate) inhibits limescale formation by the phosphate sequestering calcium deposits in the water, and the silicate laying a protective layer down on the pipe surfaces. It stops limescale formation - remember, guaranteed.

If I buy one and it doesn't work, you'll give me my money back?
We would, yes. We are the ONLY manufacturer of limescale inhibitors who will do this. We can offer this extraordinary guarantee because we know that it works. We've been making them since 2003. Please look at other manufacturer's products and see if they will do the same - say, ten years after you've fitted it. Many 'limescale inhibitors' are just frauds. The makers make fraudulent claims.

Your LimeStop is similar to another limescale inhibitor - how is it cheaper to replace it than just refill?
Yes, the LimeStop is around half the cost of a similar device, but also works out cheaper to replace than refilling. How so, you ask? The cost of a LimeStop works out to 10p a day over 10 years. This is because you have to top up the other one every 6 months and refill it every year. With the LimeStop, you simply replace it every two years. It means that you don't have to deal with soggy Siliphos and O rings which may not seal properly.

So I have to replace it?
Yes, the Siliphos inside degrades (this is how it works). It lasts two years, and therefore works out to 10p a day. You can do this yourself if you are a diy-er, but, if not, ask your engineer to do it for you when you have your boiler serviced.

Will my replacement cost be the retail cost?
No, we deduct £10 off the normal retail cost for customers seeking an annual replacement. We will contact you in two years to remind you that your limescale inhibitor requires replacing. It means that your replacement cost will be £10 below the retail price at that time - so currently £79.

What size are the connections?
The LimeStop comes with 15mm compression connectors as standard, but you can specify 22mm.

Can I protect all my other appliances, apart from my boiler?
You can, this would be the LimeStop 750 - but please bear in mind that your guarantee of limescale prevention applies only to combi boilers. But you can protect washing machines, dishwashers, and instant-heat water boilers, too, with a 15mm or 22mm version. The LimeStop 750 is £95.

What is the guarantee?
It's that you won't ever get limescale in your combi boiler. The guarantee applies after a LimeStop has been fitted for 3 years and has been replaced. If you should get limescale, we would obviously require proof that satisfies us, and we would return your original purchase cost back to you.

Have you ever had to pay out on your guarantee?
No. We've been manufacturing limescale inhibitors for 22 years, and we have NEVER had a claim!

What do you think of other limescale inhibitors?
If they worked, then we would sell them! NOTHING else, other than the silicate polyphosphate which is inside our LimeStop will successfully stop limescale apart from a full-blown water softener. We know because we have tried them over our 40 years of being in business. If you think they do work, then ask them if they will refund you after 10 years if you get limescale formation. We know that they won't!

Can I return it if I can't make it fit?
Not if you've opened the box. This is because of hygiene reasons. The safety of our products with regards to that are paramount, so we can only accept a return if you haven't actually opened the box. Just send it back to us (you have to pay the postage) and we will refund you your purchase cost minus the postage. This applies up to 14 days from purchase date. Use a courier which tracks your parcel.

Should I get a plumber to fit it?
It is well within the scope of any competent diy-er. You shouldn't normally require any other fittings, but we do advise that you install it while plumbing supply stores are still open, just in case you need any other fittings. If you're unsure, then ask a local plumber to install it for you - he will know if you also need a non-return valve fitted to your mains water. It should take no more than 20 minutes or so.

Why would I need a 'non-return valve'?
EVERY piece of equipment fitted to a mains water supply should be prevented from 'contaminating' the water supply - so a non-return valve inhibits your water going back into the drinking mains. However, lots of homes already have them fitted, and you shouldn't have two in series. It's a small brass device fitted after your mains stopcock and costs about £3-5.

Can I collect one, rather than ordering?
You can. We are at 19 Cockney Hill, Reading. RG30 4HF. Telephone us first on 0770 231 6157.

Is there a discount if I order more than one?
Yes, email us and we'll arrange a discount payment for you if you are ordering three or more.

What are the instructions for fitting the LimeStop?
Just ensure that your mains water isn't very high pressure - like over 5 bar. If it is, you will require a pressure limiting valve - set to 3 or 4 bar.
